The Watcher : Part V

 

In the same way that our modern-day leaders would say to a child: If you desire to be a doctor, a lawyer, a banker, or any other profession, then you must attend certain schools in order to gain the appropriate knowledge -- you must be able to pass certain tests and requirements -- you must then practice your chosen profession, and maintain a certain standard of discipline and behavior -- the disciples of the Light who had themselves gained the knowledge of the Kingdom, taught to their own disciples the things they must do in order to embrace their destiny as the mature Sons of God.

In their elevated perception of Life and Creation, the disciples of The Way recognized that this world if female -- i.e., both magnetic and reflective -- and thus responds to the manner in which we live our lives. In the University of Life that God Created, this world reacts to our own personal needs. There are no accidents or random events that victimize us. Whatever incidents and occurrences we experience, is the direct result of a previous action that we initiated in our own past. Our conditions under which we are born is directly related to what we have accomplished in the previous lives our soul has lived. This fact is openly acknowledged in the words of the Church Father Origen when he wrote: "Every soul… comes into this world strengthened by the victories or weakened by the defeats of its previous life" (Origen, De Principiis). That we do not remember the events of the past that brought about our present circumstances of life, is our own fault. The knowledge to the answers to the test of life is given only to those who become active servants of the Master of The Way.

One of the great keys of understanding is to become aware of our present conditions that we dwell under. The more we become cognizant of the forces that work upon us in the life we live, the more we begin to recognize that we dwell in a world of opposites. The problem is that we embrace and applaud what appears to us as good, and condemn and fail to understand the reason for what we perceive to be evil.  In many instances what we perceive from a carnal nature is evil, and what we view as evil will eventually bring about good.   Perhaps the classic defining point on the true nature of good and evil was put forth by St. Gregory, Bishop of Nyssa where he states: “…it is wrong to judge of what is morally excellent, or, on the other hand, of what is evil, by the standard of the senses”.   St. Gregory then writes of going beyond the physical in order to ascertain the truth and states: “…by withdrawing the mind from bodily phenomena, we must decide by itself and from itself the true nature of moral excellence and of its opposite”.  The problem is seen in the fact that we are too often quick to judge what we don't understand, and very few of us are willing to heed the wisdom of St. Gregory's immortal words.

In view of the fact that the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil existed prior to the Creation of man, and was Created by the Hand of God that brought all things into existence, we must then begin to comprehend that what we call evil and darkness existed from the very beginning -- and more importantly, there is a Divine Reason for the existence of what we judge as evil.   Why is this knowledge important?   Because we cannot draw nearer to God until we are able to perceive the forces of Creation and Life from the same perspective as does the Lord Himself.

What this means is that we will be barred from the Knowledge of the Kingdom and the movement and very purpose of Life itself, until we can begin to comprehend the purpose of all that we see and experience in this life. Moreover, we cannot even begin to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life, until we are able to merge the opposite polarities of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil into one harmonious perception of Creation. In the vision of God, all things have a reason and purpose -- and we can never begin to truly know God, without embracing the Divine Vision of Creation.

We begin the process of drawing nearer to God when we become very cognizant of the forces at work upon us and all of life itself. Evil is best defined as a condition where separation exists -- i.e., heaven and earth, male and female, God and man.   What this means is that, we reject the fruit of division and separation which is found in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and instead eat the fruit of the Tree of Life, when we begin to merge the two worlds into One Vision. If we look beyond the symbolism of the scriptures we see the triune force of creation at work in the two trees. In the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, we see the two polarities of Light and darkness that pervades all of Creation. In the Tree of Life, we see the third force -- which force is the polarity of the two brought into harmony in Divine Oneness. If, then, we desire to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life, then we must perceive the Divine Pattern and Vision in such a way, that we no longer perceive good and evil, light and darkness, positive and negative, male and female -- but rather, we must see and understand the harmony, reason and completeness of all aspects of Creation.  

When the Bible warns that man in his natural state cannot know or see God, it is because his carnal nature does not permit him to see beyond the barrier of this world. In his congenital state of spiritual blindness caused by his very limited perception of life, it is impossible for him to understand the underlying spiritual reality that moves, initiates, and completes every element and factor of Life and Creation that exists in this realm. In the same way that every aspect of life in this world moves within a series of positive and negative polarities, the polarities of this world are in fact polarities within a polarity -- and these polarities interact with their opposite forces of Creation that is beyond our carnal perception of reality.

What this means is that there is a Divine blueprint and pattern that remains the underlying factor and principle throughout every aspect of Creation. In the same way that we can observe the polarities of Creation at work in the universe, the movement of the seasons, day and night, the interaction of male and female, hot and cold, positive and negative, dynamic and magnetic, we can find these same polarities at work in the most far reaching vision of Life, right down to their presence in the subatomic world. Once this is understood, then we can begin to contemplate this world in relation to those worlds that are beyond our carnal perception. We accomplish this by understanding that in the same way that these polarities work within this realm, this realm interacts with the unseen (spiritual) worlds within the scope of these same polarities that exist as the Divine Pattern of all of Creation.  

When physicist Walter Thirring wrote about the relationship of matter and its associated field in his book, Urbausteine der Materie, he revealed one of the primary principles upon which the scriptures are founded.   "Modern physics", writes Walter Thirring, “has put our thinking about the essence of matter in a different context.   It has taken our gaze from the visible - the particles - to the underlying entity, the field.   The presence of matter is merely a disturbance of the perfect state of the field at that place; something accidental, one could almost say, a ‘blemish’.   Accordingly, there are no simple laws describing the forces between elementary particles… Order and symmetry must be sought in the underlying field.”   Matter, that we perceive with our physical senses, is not only a fragment of reality, but is intimately connected and intertwined with its associated field.   

When Darwin attempted to draw a picture of creation by looking exclusively to what he observed with his physical senses, he embraced the same error as did Martin Luther when he attempted to formalize the doctrines of the church on a literal interpretation of the scriptures.   In all things the picture of life that we observe with our physical senses, is only very partial at best -- with the source of what we see having its origination in the "..underlying entity, the field".   Any time that we attempt to understand the world by relying upon what we see, while ignoring the larger picture as revealed in the field, we will always embrace evil in the separation, and fall into grave error in our understanding.

Every action -- positive or negative -- in this world, invokes a responding reaction in those (spiritual) realms that are beyond the perception of our physical eyes and senses. Every event that takes place in this world is in direct reaction to a force that -- like a wave -- was initiated by a corresponding force from these (spiritual) realms -- which were in turn initiated by events that previously transpired in this physical realm. Our present experiences in life is only at best one third of the picture -- i.e., a triangulation of the past which brings about our present experiences in conjunction with our future destiny.   What this means is that, unless we understand the events of the past that brought about our present circumstances and experiences in relation to the objective of our future, we can know absolutely nothing about the life we are presently living. 

What we experience is merely a shift of polarity between the multidimensional reality of Creation -- i.e., an action here begins the movement of a wave that invokes a Spiritual Law, which in turn is brought back into our lives at some future time. The manner in which we react to this event that was/is initiated by the wave invoked by the Laws that control every aspect of life, will be the determining factor with regard to the events that this same wave from our own past continues to initiate in our future.

In the language of our times, these principles can be expressed in the saying: What goes around, comes around. In the scriptures this is expressed in the words: "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows" (Gal 6:7 NIV). The problem is that, from the perspective of modern Christian doctrine, we place little to no emphasis on this warning of the Apostle. We reason that the Day of Judgment will be at that time when man will reap what he sows. The defect in our reasoning is immediately brought to light when it is easily demonstrated that this was not the mindset of the people in biblical times -- and our present-day doctrines of belief find little support in the scriptures. What the people who Jesus taught believed, was that every event and aspect in the life of man is the direct result of his own actions -- good, bad or indifferent -- that were brought about by his own previous actions.

When pushed to give an answer, many modern-day church authorities will respond with the rather deluded idea which is commonly held among Christians today, that we know and understand Jesus better today than his followers in the first century. Martin Luther embraced this rather misguided idea when he rejected the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, and attempted to promote the doctrine that the followers of Jesus were too Jewish to understand what Jesus taught. These foolish ideas, which were first published by the Gentile-Roman Church, are merely representative of the inability of the carnal and heathen mind to embrace the higher spiritual concepts of the true reality of mankind.

What was it that the original followers of Jesus didn’t understand? That there was an absolute need to live and move within the Light of the higher spiritual reality of man. That the follower of Christ was to demonstrate his love by inflicting no harm or suffering upon either their fellow brothers and sisters, or any of the lesser creatures of the earth? The heathen mind of the Gentiles did not want a religion that required them to change their evil ways! They were too consumed with the pursuit of the sensual and elemental things of this world, than to spend an undue amount of time studying scripture and learning about the True God. They did not want a savior that required them to pick up their crosses and follow after -- but rather, they desired an all-inclusive god that was satisfied with a mere profession of faith and belief. As heathens, they could not cease from inflicting pain and suffering upon their brothers and sisters -- they could not sever their craving for the blood and flesh of slain beasts -- and they could not live in accordance with the Light and the Royal Law of our Creator God. Is the reality of life any different in our own time?

Something that the modern believer does not understand is the fact that when the Apostle suggests that it is God that returns to man the fruit of his own behavior and conduct, that does not mean that God -- Himself -- sits back orchestrating every event that takes place. Unlike the modern believer who has been alienated from a more enlightened understanding of the workings and movement of Creation, the first century followers of Christ were able to comprehend the workings of the organic Laws of Heaven and Earth, because they possessed an illumined mind and an enlightened understanding. They were therefore able to perceive reality beyond the three-dimensional barrier of this world, and see that all things are brought about by the Laws of Creation -- positive, negative, and the third force which is the balance of the two -- within which all of life moves. What we, in our limited carnal vision perceive as evil, is actually the result of a previous action -- controlled and brought about by the Laws of Creation, in direct response to a previous occurrence or action. More important, though, is for us to open our minds to the biblical revelation that what we perceive as evil, is not only the result of our own actions, but is also for our own good -- and when consciously merged with its opposite polarity through the knowledge of the Mysteries of God, can be channeled in a new direction to bring about our re-entrance into the Kingdom from which we originally emerged.

These truths were in fact the underlying principles of the revelation of the Gospel by Jesus to mankind. The essence of the dynamics of these truths which are invoked by the polarities that control every aspect of life, is seen in the words of the Apostle where he wrote: "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.' No, 'if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.' Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Rom 12:19-21 RSV).

These concepts are foundational principles that must be incorporated in the life of the Genuine Christian if they are to be permitted access into the Kingdom that Jesus declared. The problem is seen in our manner of thinking -- i.e., on an immediate level, it is impossible for Christians today to know the reason they were born into this life! Why? Because we believe in the manner of Constantine, Justinian, Darwin, Luther, and the fossilized three-dimensional science of our time. The truth is, that it is impossible for us to know why we are born into this life, without understanding the journey of our pre-existent soul. Truth can only be found when we reject the philosophy of men such as Constantine, Justinian and Darwin -- look beyond the birth of our physical body -- and begin to perceive our true reality from the perspective of our soul and spirit.

On a more immediate level we must ask exactly what in this life the scriptures warn us that we must overcome? In order to even begin to understand this question, we must first know the conditions of our birth. Again, turning to the historian, this important element to the equation of life is made reference to by Edward Gibbon in the footnote regarding the question of the disciples at John 9:2: "The disciples of Jesus were persuaded that a man might have sinned before he was born, (John, ix. 2,) and the Pharisees held the transmigration [reincarnation] of virtuous souls, (Joseph. de Bell. Judaico, l. ii. c. 7;) and a modern Rabbi is modestly assured, that Hermes, Pythagoras, Plato, etc., derived their metaphysics from his illustrious countrymen" (Gibbon; Decline & Fall) -- metaphysics that embraced the concept of the pre-existence and transmigration of the soul who travails upon the road that eventually leads to spiritual perfection and completeness.

Again let me pose the question as to what this statement means to us from a modern day perspective? The mindset and thinking with respect to the events of life from the perception of the disciples is explored in the Wycliffe Commentary where it is written: "The question of the disciples (v. 2) was grounded in the belief that bodily infirmity or suffering was due to sin, whether of parents (Exo 20:5) or of the man himself, presumably on the basis of the soul’s pre-existence, which some Jews held".  Thus, we must ask the question: Is this some Jewish fable that the disciples of Christ conjured up themselves? Or is this belief a foundational element of the Gospel that Jesus taught to them?

On the question itself -- Master, who did sin? -- the commentary Barnes’ Notes writes that: "It was a universal opinion among the Jews that calamities of all kinds were the effects of sin. The case, however, of this man was that of one that was blind from his birth, and it was a question which the disciples could not determine whether it was his fault or that of his parents. Many of the Jews, as it appears from their writings (see Lightfoot), believed in the doctrine of the transmigration of souls; or that the soul of a man, in consequence of sin, might be compelled to pass into other bodies, and be punished there. They also believed that an infant might sin before it was born (see Lightfoot), and that consequently this blindness might have come upon the child as a consequence of that".

On the question of who did sin, this man, or his parents, and the pre-existence and reincarnation of the soul, the Adam Clarke Commentary tells us: "The doctrine of the transmigration of souls appears to have been an article in the creed of the Pharisees, and it was pretty general both among the Greeks and the Asiatics. The Pythagoreans believed the souls of men were sent into other bodies for the punishment of some sin which they had committed in a pre-existent state. This seems to have been the foundation of the disciples’ question to our Lord. Did this man sin in a pre-existent state, that he is punished in this body with blindness? Or, did his parents commit some sin, for which they are thus plagued in their offspring!... The Jewish rabbis have had the same belief from the very remotest antiquity. Origen cites an apocryphal book of the Hebrews, in which the patriarch Jacob is made to speak thus: I am an angel of God; one of the first order of spirits. Men call me Jacob, but my true name, which God has given me, is Israel: Orat. Joseph. apud ORIG. Many of the Jewish doctors have believed that the souls of Adam, Abraham, and Phineas, have successively animated the great men of their nation. Philo says that the air is full of spirits, and that some, through their natural propensity, join themselves to bodies; and that others have an aversion from such a union. See several other things relative to this point in his treatises, De Plant. Noe-- De Gigantibus-- De Confus. Ling.-- De Somniis, etc.; and see Calmet, where he is pretty largely quoted".

It is important in our assessment of genuine biblical foundations of thought to recognize the fact that the pre-existence and reincarnation of the soul was a universally accepted belief among the people who Jesus taught the Gospel and Mysteries of God. Once this fact is acknowledged, then we are forced to conclude that if this belief about the nature of life was in error, then Jesus would have had to condemn it -- or, we must recognize that it was removed by the later Gentile Church.

That the Pharisees understood that a man is born blind from the misdeeds of a previous life is seen in their words to the man: "You were born entirely in sins, and are you teaching us?" (Jn 9:34 NAS). Moreover, it is well documented that the Essenes -- who with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls are now understood to be the foundation of New Covenant teachings -- also believed in the pre-existence and transmigration of the soul.

The belief that a man inherits his conditions of birth in direct relation to the trials and accomplishments of his pre-existent soul, is easily demonstrated among the Gentile converts. Thus, the early second century Christian writer Justin Martyr even speaks about the doctrine of transmutation -- the embodiment of a person in the body of a beast as punishment for the misdeeds of a previous life -- when he answers the question of Trypho, the Jew, and writes: "And what do those suffer who are judged to be unworthy of this spectacle? said he. They are imprisoned in the bodies of certain wild beasts, and this is their punishment" (Dialogue of Justin With Trypho, a Jew). If the doctrine of the transmutation (man into beast) appears irrational to the modern believer, this same doctrine is also embraced by the modern day Hasidic Jews as a sacred teaching of great antiquity among the wise men of Israel. That this doctrine is once again a paradox -- and thus, is both true and false with the third element to the equation beyond our comprehension, is also part of the Mysteries of God that Paul was unable to speak of to the carnally minded believers of the simple faith.

Once it is understood that man possesses an animal nature, these references indicate that it is not that he incarnates as a beast -- but rather, that his consciousness has the capacity to sink below the level of human consciousness, and he is then totally ruled over by his lower animal nature. This may happen when confronted with certain external events or stimulation -- or it may be continual. Thus, the story of Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde is more real than most people realize.

The reality of people who are controlled by their lower animal nature, and thus are beasts while living in the body of man, is openly portrayed in the teachings of Jesus to his disciples. Verse two of the eighty-eighth chapter of the Nazirene Gospel conveys to us that there is a level of humanity with respect to the dividing line between man and man-beast: And He said to them, "Love you one another and all the creatures of God, Yet I say to you, not all are men, who are in the form of man. Are they men or women in the image of God whose ways of violence, of oppression and wrong, who choose a lie rather than the truth? No, truly, till they are born again, and receive the spirit of love and wisdom within their hearts. Then only are they sons and daughters of Israel, and being of Israel they are children of God, And for this cause came I into the world, and for this I have suffered at the hands of sinners."

While this may on the surface appear absurd to the modern believer who likes to think of themselves as being above the beasts of the earth, the fact that what is being portrayed is in substance, only elementary in relation to man’s true reality, is further proof of the validity of the Apostle’s warning that the mysteries of God will appear to be "foolishness" to the mind of natural man. That carnal man has the inherent ability to reason and express himself at a higher level than the beasts of the earth, and on the surface appears to be more advanced than his lesser brothers, does not mean that he is living and functioning anything near to his true (soul and spiritual) potential which is beyond even his wildest imaginings.

As modern Christians, we are simply not prepared to even contemplate what is being conveyed by Jesus to his disciples in the literal meaning of the text. What Jesus is stating is that so long as a person is ruled by their animal nature, and fails to achieve the next stage of birth, that they are really beasts in the physical form of man. This raises a number of really important questions -- i.e., can these beast-men call upon the name of the Lord and be saved? Can these beast-men profess their faith in Christ in the manner in which the Apostle envisions? 

Paul warns that to be carnal is death, and only those who are spiritual are actually alive in a biblical sense. Paul also places little importance on the philosophy of this world -- which suggests that these beast-men are capable of living in accordance with the many cultures of the earth? If this is true, then we must also recognize that these beast-men will be leaders in our churches and government. How, you ask? From a biblical perspective they remain beast-men and beast-women because they do not dwell in the image of the Eternal God -- as seen in the words of Jesus in the Nazirene Gospel: "…Are they men or women in the image of God whose ways of violence, of oppression and wrong, who choose a lie rather than the truth?" The answer is no! And in the words of Jesus: "…No, truly, till they are born again, and receive the spirit of love and wisdom within their hearts. Then only are they sons and daughters of Israel, and being of Israel they are children of God, And for this cause came I into the world, and for this I have suffered at the hands of sinners."

Thus, it is important for us to grasp the reality of the words of Jesus where he stated: "Love you one another and all the creatures of God, Yet I say to you, not all are men, who are in the form of man." What this means is that the teachings, concepts, and promise of the scriptures do not even apply to those who continue to live in accordance with the gross reality of this world. In the words of Jesus: "The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one…" (Matt 13:38 NIV). As portrayed in the parable, both groups dwell in the physical form of the bodies we are accustomed to seeing -- but those who are of the earth, are as the beasts of this world.

The children of this realm who are carnal, and are ruled over by their beastly animal natures, dwell in a world of "an eye for an eye", and every other sort of aggression, hostility and violence against their brothers and sisters. Even if they become quasi-civilized -- i.e., domesticated -- as the people of our present culture, they are not the children of the Eternal God unless they endure the process of rebirth and elevate themselves to the higher plane and consciousness of man.

In the same way that a fetus has the potential to become an organic person of the flesh, we have the potential to develop our indwelling soul and spiritual natures and embrace our true destiny which is portrayed in the words that man was created in the "image and likeness of God".   In the same way that a fetus is formed by an embryo that came into being by the merging of the essences of our physical parents, we have the potential to begin to manifest our soul by merging the paradoxes (opposites) of higher mind and spirit, in order to bring about our development and eventual next stage of birth.

Once we begin to understand the Divine Pattern of Creation, and the manner in which this Pattern brings about the experiences of our present life in relation to our own past and the destiny of our future, we can begin to manifest this knowledge in the endeavor to commence our journey in The Way.   Because we, as modern Christians, fail to comprehend these truths which the Church Father Origen called the minor mysteries, we fail to understand the words of the Apostle when he warned us: "For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so and those who are in the flesh cannot please God" (Rom 8:5-8 NAS).

We can observe the same exact thought which is expressed in the Nazirene Gospel -- i.e., that the Genuine Christian is the one who "…wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted" -- in the words of the Apostle where he wrote: "Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation-- but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God" (Rom 8:12-14 NIV). 

If you live in accordance with the carnal desires of this world, then you are ruled over by your lower (animal) nature, and you are the children of this world. It does not matter if you proclaim the words of man's higher reality with your lips, while you continue to dwell as a beast of this world in the manner you live your life.  The children of God are those who live in accordance with the Royal Law of God; and in their trials of walking in The Way, their carnal (animal) nature becomes transmuted, and they transcend the natural limitations of this world through the next stage of birth which Jesus taught was absolutely necessary to enter into the Kingdom.

Among the many statements by the Apostle which tends to confuse the reader as to the exact thought that prompted the account, Paul appears to at times express the thought that God does not know all people -- i.e., "But the man who loves God is known by God (1 Cor 8:3 NIV)… But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God…" (Gal 4:9 NAS) -- it would appear that God only knows those who are spiritual and belong to His Fold. Every Christian today should pose the question: How can this be? What we fail to realize is the fact that the truth is far more real than we can even imagine.  

One of the primary teachings of Jesus is seen in the reality that a house divided cannot stand.  When asked when the Kingdom of God would come, the concept which is captured by St. Clement, the disciple of Peter, in his The Second Epistle of Clement, and is also contained in all the early Christian writings, portrays the absolute need to overcome our own divided nature: Let us expect, therefore, hour by hour, the kingdom of God in love and righteousness, since we know not the day of the appearing of God. For the Lord Himself, being asked by one when His kingdom would come, replied, 'When two shall be one, that which is without as that which is within, and the male with the female, neither male nor female’”.  

What this means is that if our physical self is only a part of the totality of our being, as taught by Jesus and the New Testament scriptures -- which divided reality is confirmed by physicists such as Walter Thirring when he wrote that modern physics “has put our thinking about the essence of matter in a different context.   It has taken our gaze from the visible - the particles - to the underlying entity, the field.   The presence of matter is merely a disturbance of the perfect state of the field at that place; something accidental, one could almost say, a ‘blemish’.   Accordingly, there are no simple laws describing the forces between elementary particles… Order and symmetry must be sought in the underlying field” (Urbausteine der Materie) -- then our own true reality cannot even be comprehended when we exist in a divided state with respect to our soul and spiritual natures.  As organic physical beings who are presently struggling to know ourselves in the limited reality of this three-dimensional world, we cannot even call upon the name of God until we have overcome our inner walls of division, and we become of One Mind within ourselves.   

In the words of Paul: "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" (2 Cor 4:18 NIV).   When we, who are temporal beings who being material -- being who exist as a "blemish" in the field of our soul and spiritual natures -- attempt to call upon the name of God from the divided and partial reality of this world, without first overcoming our divided reality by being totally faithful to the commandments of the Lord as presented to us in the teachings of The Way -- then we deserve to receive the same fate as did the carnal Jews who are condemned throughout the New Testament scriptures as being counterfeit believers. 

How long will modern Christians ignore the words of the Apostle when he warned that the “carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God... For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Rom 8:7-8;13 NKJ).    The carnal mind is that part of us that is physical -- whereas, our soul and spiritual natures are manifest in the field, which Paul explains: " So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" (2 Cor 4:18 NIV).   If, then, we desire the promise of Truth, Light, and Eternal Life, then we must make the physical "one flesh" with our own unseen soul and spiritual natures. 

Christians proclaim to the world that God loves them -- but so too did the father love his prodigal son who had traveled into the far country.   In the same way that the father could not alleviate the sufferings and trials of the son when he attached himself to the citizen of the far country, neither can our Heavenly Father alleviate the sufferings and trials that we have brought upon ourselves, until we are willing to turn from this world, and seek Light and Truth!

Again, because we close our eyes to the paradoxical reality of Creation, we severely inhibit our comprehension of life when we fail to recognize the fact that two opposing truths can equally be valid. While on the one hand it is true that God's love is unbounded, it is also true that if God was to constrain and inhibit us -- thereby denying us our own freedom of expression -- then God’s love would be counterfeit and imperfect. In recognizing this fact, we must be prepared to seriously examine all sides and factions of any given issue. With this in mind, we can say that from one perspective it can be concluded that Darwin is correct in his assertion that man’s physical body and associated consciousness of mind is borne from the earth -- an integral part of nature -- and is very much a product of this world. While we like to think of ourselves as being on a higher plane than the other creatures of the earth, from one perspective both positions are true. The problem is that we cannot get a sense of our own carnal/spiritual reality, until we first come to understand that it is our soul and spiritual natures that were created in the image of God, and we are an embryonic image of our soul which has been projected into this world and clothed with a body of flesh. Thus, it is not until we are truly cognizant of both realities, that we can even begin to get a correct sense of what is being portrayed to us in the scriptures.

Throughout the Bible there is the continual presence of a perpetual dividing line between what is referred to as the children of this world and the children of God. In like manner, this same conflict is found in throughout the writings of the Essenes in the constant portrayal of the struggle between the sons of Light and the sons of darkness -- but what is the means by which the two are determined and classified? In view of the fact that the Sadducees and Pharisees were greatly offended when Jesus condemned them -- Jesus referring to them as the counterfeit Nation of Israel because, though they called themselves the children of Abraham, being of this world and carnal they were really the offspring of the god of this realm. In like manner, Paul warned that in the future the church which would call itself Christian, would be ruled by the god of this world, as seen in the words: "…there will be a time of great rebellion against God, and then the man of rebellion will come-- the son of hell. He will defy every god there is and tear down every other object of adoration and worship. He will go in and sit as God in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God" (2 Th 2:3-4 TLB). What this means is that the people who call themselves Christian, will in fact be worshiping the antichrist.

Since the Bible warns us that both the carnal Jews and Christians were deceived, and each erroneously looked upon themselves as those who were chosen and saved when they were in fact the children of the god of this world, then we must endeavor to understand the dividing line that causes one person to be the child of this world, and another to be the child of the Light. While each of us thinks of ourselves as being good by virtue of the fact that we can see others who we judge to be evil, throughout the scriptures it is demonstrated that God uses different criteria than we do. Again, recognizing the very limited perception and judgment of man, St. Gregory, Bishop of Nyssa states: "…it is wrong to judge of what is morally excellent, or, on the other hand, of what is evil, by the standard of the senses". St. Gregory then writes of the need to go beyond man’s physical reality in order to ascertain the truth and states: "…by withdrawing the mind from bodily phenomena, we must decide by itself and from itself the true nature of moral excellence and of its opposite".

More than any other indicator, the element that divides the good from the bad is the very existence of division itself. Thus, Jesus warned: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand" (Matt 12:25 NKJ). The problem is that from a carnal or Darwinist perspective of life, we have no means to comprehend what Jesus is attempting to convey to us.

When Moses spoke of the Commandments of God, he said to the people: "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!" (Deut 6:4 NKJ). Thus, the pattern of the Two that is One is demonstrated in the Nazirene Gospel where the Most High God is portrayed as either the All-Parent, or Father-Mother God, and it is understood that the Two are One. Evil equates to division and separation.   The second day of the Genesis Creation account is the only day that is not called good because it is two -- i.e., dualistic. When Eve was separated from Adam, the very first words reportedly spoken by man conveyed the need for the two to become "one flesh". As the prodigal sons of our Heavenly Father God, our destiny is portrayed in our eventual return to the Kingdom in a Complete and Perfected State. That the path is traveled as we endeavor to overcome our own divided natures, is seen in the words of St. Clement, the disciple of Peter, in his Second Epistle of Clement where he writes: "Let us expect, therefore, hour by hour, the kingdom of God in love and righteousness, since we know not the day of the appearing of God. For the Lord Himself, being asked by one when His kingdom would come, replied, 'When two shall be one, that which is without as that which is within, and the male with the female, neither male nor female’". What these important teachings convey is the reality of an inner Armageddon, and the spiritual birth of the disciple in the Kingdom within.

The ultimate portrayal of our destiny is seen in the words: "The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the LORD God said, The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever. So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life" (Gen 3:21-24 NIV). Once the symbolism of the scriptures is understood, it is seen that the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is really the Tree of Life in a divided state. In one respect, the Garden of Eden is equal to the place of origin of the prodigal son before he traveled into the "far country". The cherubim and the flaming sword are the laws that must be overcome as we endeavor to eat the fruit of the Tree of Life, and return. Thus the words: "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God… Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations… And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city" (Rev 2:7; 22:1-2 NIV; 22:12-14 KJV).

The key, then, to overcoming our plight in this and all other realms, is given to us in the above quotation of Jesus which is still preserved in the Epistles of St. Clement: "Let us expect, therefore, hour by hour, the kingdom of God in love and righteousness, since we know not the day of the appearing of God. For the Lord Himself, being asked by one when His kingdom would come, replied, 'When two shall be one, that which is without as that which is within, and the male with the female, neither male nor female’".

The Apostle states that only those who are of His fold are known by God, because it is only when we overcome our own divided state, and we attain to a soul level of consciousness, that it can be said of us that we dwell in the image of our Creator. So long as our mind remains an undeveloped embryonic image of our soul, and fails to develop beyond the level of the natural organic consciousness of the physical body in which we dwell, then we remain very much the children of this world -- temporal, and we are being who possess no real substance beyond the limits of this realm.

While some will view this reality which I am portraying to be rather cruel -- saying, where is the love of God for His children -- this misconception is the result of a very limited perception of man’s true plight. As the prodigal sons of our Heavenly Father, we have it within our power to return to the Kingdom whenever we begin to realize the futility, senselessness and pointlessness of life in this temporal world. Because everything in this world is in fact a form and allegorical symbol which portrays elements of man’s own consciousness, we begin to overcome the Laws which banish us from the Kingdom, by embracing a true reverence for life and all of Creation.

What does St. Clement convey to us with respect to his quotation of Jesus' words as to when the Kingdom will come? That each of us has a divided male and female nature, means that we will learn the wisdom and knowledge necessary to overcome this state of inner division, by entering into a true and genuine relationship with our own spouse -- i.e., thus the teaching that man and woman must become "one flesh". We will in like manner overcome the division between heaven and earth when we learn to merge our own lower (animal) nature with the potential of higher consciousness of our pre-existent soul. Again we will break down the inner wall when we begin to perceive and understand the outside world to be an allegorical reflection of the inner world.

In the parable of the prodigal son, it can be observed that the son exists in a state of famine when he dwells under the power of the "citizen" of this world. Thus, we become confused and misguided because we embrace the doctrines of men who have limited themselves to the three-dimensional consciousness of this realm -- i.e., Darwin, Constantine, Justinian, Marx, and the cultural and philosophical prophets of our time. We look upon ourselves as having originated by virtue of our conception or birth into this life, and we associate the totality of ourselves with the physical body in which we are presently dwelling. We therefore fail to think beyond our present circumstances of life -- our gender, race or nationality -- and we remain totally ignorant of the reason why we were born into this present life -- or even that there is a higher purpose and goal that has molded the agenda of life itself. In limiting our consciousness to the fulfillment of sensual and carnal needs, we never even contemplate anything beyond the facade of the physical body that our soul uses as a vessel in this realm.

Because we know nothing beyond the superficial elements of this world, we cannot inherit the promise of the scriptures -- i.e., the temporal person we are cannot go to Glory as the majority of Christians believe, and neither will we reincarnate as others believe. In this the Apostle warns us: "For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh… For the mind set on the flesh is death… because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so and those who are in the flesh cannot please God" (Rom 8:5-8 NAS). Why? If it is true that we are an image of our pre-existent soul which is projected into this realm in an embryonic state -- and in squandering away our opportunity of life by failing to develop, we utilize less than ten percent of our potential of mind -- and even this ten percent we surrender when we thoroughly immerse ourselves in the fulfillment of the sensual and carnal needs of the physical body which is the mere vessel of our pre-existent soul -- then there is virtually nothing in our life that is associated with and reflects our true self, which is our soul -- and thus, our accomplishments have no value or validity beyond the elemental and natural fulfillment of this organic world. Thus, when our physical form ceases to support life at the time of death, we must ponder the question as to what will remain of our consciousness that is genuine and real from the perspective of our soul? In most cases, absolutely nothing!

The more we embrace the temporal culture of this world -- it’s thinking and mindset that knows absolutely nothing of our pre-existents soul and the true purpose of life -- the more superficial and counterfeit we become. We spend our days toiling for material excesses beyond our true physical needs. We squander away our opportunity of life being hypnotized by images that dance across the screens of our television sets.  We embrace and indulge in our politically correct culture and plastic modern society, giving little thought to what is tangible, real and genuine.  We identify with the temporal body we presently inhabit.  The result is that the more we permit ourselves to become immersed in gender, racial or national origin roles associated with our physical self, the more we become estranged and alienated from our true self that transcends this world.   The result is that we manifest very little in our lives that is genuine and in harmony with the being that we truly are. Thus, in suppressing the essence of who we truly are, we surrender our opportunity of life itself when we become totally controlled by the thinking and elemental powers of this world.

In living our lives as natural beings of this realm -- even viewing ourselves from a Darwinist perspective as just a mere corporeal life-form that shares a common origin and heritage with the beasts of this world -- we never develop ourselves beyond the animal consciousness associated with our physical bodies. That we appear to possess a higher intelligence than the other organic life-forms of this world, is merely brought about by the fact that our physical bodies are more developed. The problem is that because our bodies only support that level of intelligence necessary for the continuance of physical life, we never begin to actually manifest our true potential of mind without a truly conscious effort to comprehend our own indwelling higher nature.

Thus, the earliest of Christians understood the true wisdom that all of mankind must embrace as demonstrated in the words of the second-century Church Father Clement of Alexandria when he wrote: "…the greatest of all lessons to know one's self. For if one knows himself, he will know God; and knowing God, he will be made like God… and that man becomes God, since God so wills". In his treaties on The Soul and the Resurrection, St Gregory writes that "the Resurrection is no other thing than 'the re-constitution of our nature in its original form’", and states that there will come a time "…when the complete whole of our race shall have been perfected from the first man to the last".

The problem is that once the church became institutionalized under the control of the Roman Imperial Government, it then polluted itself with the innocent blood of the original Messianic Jews whose only crime was they continued to live in accordance with the lifestyle and mindset that the Lord himself ordained. The Gentile Church then, having severed itself from the "cultivated olive" and the spiritually refined soil that the Word must be sown in, in order to mature and bring forth the true fruit of the spirit, succeeding generations of Christians then further polluted the soil, and replaced it with a very Pagan soil of inequity and heresy -- and in turning upon the established foundation of the Lord, the ultimate spiritual apostasy was brought about when the church began to "call evil good, and good evil... darkness for light, and light for darkness... bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isa 5:20 KJV).

Christianity, which was born in the absolute purity of the Word, became burdened with the doctrines of men when it made an alliance and covenant with the Roman Imperial Government -- which covenant undermined its spiritual essence as it settled into the spiritual abyss and darkness of this world. The Church began its descent into the realm of the outer darkness (Mt 22:13; 25:30) with the transformation of the church from its original Jewish roots that was centered in Jerusalem, to that of a wild olive -- strangled by the thorn bearing weeds of the uncultivated and polluted soil of Pagan Rome. The time has come where the church itself must emerge out of the abyss of darkness, and once again manifest the True Light of the Word of God!

What I am saying to you is that you must come to the Living Christ who dwells in the Temple within you.   To accomplish this, you must cease your reliance on the doctrines of men -- admit the possibility that the scriptures which you received via the Church of Rome have been corrupted -- and are willing to sanctify and purify yourselves in the true healing of the Word -- that you will be permitted to access the Kingdom and learn the Mysteries of God directly from the Living Son of God who dwells in your hearts. I am not asking you to believe what I say -- neither am I asking you to leave your present church -- but rather, to open your mind so the indwelling Christ can guide and teach you -- and to seek and find the Truth by living in accordance with the Royal Law of the Most High.   While the testimony of Christ which Paul refers to as the "milk" of the gospel is necessary for "babes in Christ", you must move on to maturity and recognize the wisdom of the Apostle when he warned: "Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil" (Heb 5:13-14 NIV). As a Watcher of the Lord who was sent to warn you of the impending doom if you fail to pick up your own cross and follow in the footsteps of the Lord, this web site clarifies the teachings of The Way as they were taught directly by Jesus to his faithful disciples.

Within this web site you will find many concepts that may at first appear disturbing -- but as you come into the Presence of the Living Christ who awaits you in the inner Kingdom of your soul, all Truths will be revealed to you.  In the writings of Clement, the first century disciple of the Apostle Peter, the Christ is referred to as the "True Prophet" who is dormant in the life of the people of this world, but is the "True Teacher" of those who are genuine Christians.   In the Recognitions of Clement it is written: “You have answered rightly, O Clement; for as no one can see without eyes, nor hear without ears, nor smell without nostrils, nor taste without a tongue, nor handle anything without hands, so it is impossible, without the true Prophet, to know what is pleasing to God. And I answered: I have already learned from your instruction that this true prophet is the Christ; but I should wish to learn what the Christ means, or why He is so called, that a matter of so great importance may not be vague and uncertain to me.”

Every believer who professes to be a Christian today should desire to be with the Lord in the Temple of their soul.   Without the indwelling Christ, it is as if we have no eyes, ears, no smell or taste or feeling in our limbs, and it is impossible for us to know what is true or false.   Open your mind and seek to enter into the Presence of the Christ within you, that you might know the Mysteries of God.

In his Epistle to the Trallaus the first century Overseer of Antioch named Ignatius who was himself a disciple of John, writes to the people of the simple faith whose minds have not yet been prepared to receive what the Apostle Paul referred to as the Mysteries of God, and writes: “Might I not write to you things more full of mystery?  But I fear to do so, lest I should inflict injury on you who are babes.  Pardon me in this respect, lest, as not being able to receive their weighty import, ye should be strangled by them”.   Of the Mysteries Paul himself wrote to the congregation at Corinth: "...in paradise, [he] heard things so astounding that they are beyond a man's power to describe or put in words (and anyway I am not allowed to tell them to others)" (2 Cor 12:2-4 TLB). Thus, that those who are permitted to gaze upon the higher spiritual reality of man cannot convey what they see in words that carnal man will comprehend, and are not even permitted to speak of their experiences to others, is the thought expressed by Paul with respect to those who are still of the simple faith when he warned: "And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know" (1 Cor 8:2 NKJ).  

Unless the mind is sufficiently prepared to embrace spiritual concepts, the Christian of the simple faith is simply not prepared for the teachings that Jesus taught those of his disciples who were worthy to receive private instruction "in the house" that was not revealed to those who were said to be without.   If you have not read the step by step instruction found in this gate way, then return to THE WATCHER
